Cartooning Workshop with Sebastian Tanti Burlo

Political cartoonist and artist Sebastian Tanti Burlò invites participants to poke fun at situations we find ourselves in. Through drawing and a touch of irreverence, attendants will learn the loaded art of caricature. Burlò will lead a class in which politicians, celebrities and your In-Laws will be fair game. Using the traditional pen and ink, we’ll attempt to find the line where the absurd and reality meet inside of a cartoon.

Together we will discuss the different types of editorial cartoons and talk about their long history as well as their contemporary use.

Before attending we encourage you to think about either a person you would like to caricature or a situation you’d wish to satirise. It could be political or non. Anything is welcome. If you do come ready armed with an idea, feel free to bring a series of reference images (printed or digital).
